Turning Point
The gallery structure represents a trading post and First People’s contact with the Euro-American culture. The information and artifacts indicate the contact with explorers, fur trappers, traders and missionaries introduced not only different cultures but deadly diseases.
An historic stone marker is displayed with the date 1811 incised into it and the letters, HBCo. It is a trail marker indicating a survey was made of the availability of furs in the area for the Hudson Bay Company. Other items of interest are a bear coat, pelt stencil, Phoenix buttons and snow shoes.
